PROJECTS

In the context of the Community Council's efforts for improvement of the way of living for the community's inhabitants, it already has delivered the following infrastructure and beautification projects:
   
1. Operating the Museum of Folkloric Weaving craft.
   
2. Beautification of the village's central plaza with paved areas, benches, lighting, reconditioning and transfer of the old olive-press to the plaza, and the unveiling of benefactor's Constantinos Foitides bust.
   
3. Maintenance of the village's church, removal of the gilding, and reparation of the stone-made structure.
   
4. Tree planting across the village's main streets that lead toward St Demetrianos and toward the neighbouring village of Milia.
   
5. Widening of the community's streets and replacement of old walls with new, stone-made ones.
   
6. Construction of a new water tank at a higher point so as to cover the inhabitants' needs.
   
   
Continuing its efforts for a qualitative upgrade of the way of living for the community's inhabitants, the Community Council has scheduled the following projects:
   
1. Replacement of the village's entire water-supply network.
   
2. Reconditioning and restructure of two old fountains, the "paliovrisi" ( old fountain) and the "Pyrki" (made in 1900). The venue of each fountain will become a community park with benches, lighting, paved and verdant areas.
   
3. Replacement of the walling within the village with stone-made walls out of traditional local stone.
   
4. Creation of a community quarry in the "Lassies" region, where there was formerly quarry, for the mining of stones to be used in the reconstruction of the traditional houses.
   
5. Expropriation of the forester's residence, preservation and maintenance of the building, and its conversion to a cultural centre.
   
6. Conversion of the old primary school into a community park, community offices, and a multi-purpose area for various events/activities.
   
7. Efforts are being made to upgrade the community's regional Health Centre and also the Community Nursing Home, as well as for its operation on a 24-hour basis.
